How likely are you to be murdered in Chicago?

When it comes to murder and crime, Chicago gets a bad rap. But the city’s murder rate of 18 murders per 100,000 people is not nearly as high as cities like New Orleans or Washington D.C., which reach the 80s and 90s. Chicago murder victims are also a relatively homogenized group.

This quiz uses murder statistics from 2007 to November 2014 to tell you how likely you are to become a murder victim in Chicago.

The quiz compares your responses to homicide statistics compiled and made publically available by RedEye Chicago and the Chicago Police Department.
