At least 65 federal agents will join Chicago investigators in probing some of Chicago’s gang-torn neighborhoods, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
“This is a new tactic the FBI is using in fighting crime,” an FBI spokeswoman told the Sun-Times, “by working in a concentrated area and a concentrated time on the street — although the FBI has been working hand in hand and day in and day out with the police department.”
The agents are expected to spend three or four weeks in Chicago, working with local officers on gang suppression missions, the paper reports.
