Chicago residents can weigh in on city efforts to raise its minimum wage by showing up to one of five public hearings or submitting their ideas online.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel tasked the Minimum Wage Working Group in May with creating a plan to raise Chicago’s minimum wage.The group, composed of aldermen and business leaders, agreed to get public feedback through meetings throughout the city.
The first hearing is scheduled for June 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Kennedy-King College. More dates and times will be announced this week on the Minimum Wage Working Group’s webpage.
Alderman Will Burns (4th), is the group’s co-chair.
“We are committed to running an inclusive, balanced process to develop the working group’s proposal,” Burns said in a statement.
The task force will also take submissions from through its webpage, where people can also upload attachments to the comment form.
