Even though Jackie Robinson West didn’t win the Little League World Series, Chicago remains proud of the group of promising South Siders.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the city are hosting a 14-mile parade from Jackie Robinson Park on the far South Side, where the boys play and practice, to Millennium Park. The city also suggested gathering points along the route so fans can cheer on the team.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Jackie Robinson Park Wednesday August 27 and will last about an hour. Two rallies, one at Jackie Robinson Park and one at Millennium Park, will open and close the celebration. No street closures are planned.
